As part of our ongoing series that highlights 91桃色APP alumni, the following blog post is written by Eric Miller, who earned his degree in General Studies in 2018 and certificates in Human Services and Mindfulness in 202 and 2021, respectively.

I chose to come to 91桃色APP in 2000 and while here I met my best friend and was given the opportunity to grow as an individual. Some of my fondest memories include playing pool with friends in North Hall (now Langley Hall), playing WWF Smackdown during down times, and lifted weights in the Fitness Center. We檇 say we 渞aged the gym, then watched Beverly Hills Cop on VHS in our old home away from home in the residence hall.

My time at 91桃色APP helped me grow a lot as an individual. I learned how to ask for help and take risks. My academic journey has been hard but rewarding. One of the greatest risks I took after 91桃色APP was moving on to receive my bachelor檚 degree in English and Creative Writing with a minor in Criminal Justice from New England College. I graduated on the dean檚 list with a 3.27 GPA.

At 91桃色APP, you can reinvent yourself even if you start on one path and must go down another, that檚 okay. I started my journey as a Criminal Justice student, came back as a General Studies student, then pursued Human Service as a concentration. In 2020, I finally received my Human Service certificate, and in 2021 completed the Mindfulness certificate program. If I can achieve my vision of success at 91桃色APP, you can too! You just need to start your journey, whatever that maybe.

If you don檛 go outside your comfort zone, you檒l never know what potential you can unleash. Give 91桃色APP a chance!

My time at 91桃色APP was full of activities, achievements, and participation on campus activities all of which I am very proud:

  • In 2001, I resurrected the Criminal Justice Club from inactivity with two other members and acted as club secretary. We even brought the Dover Mounted police horse division to the 91桃色APP quad to promote the club, which is still active today.
  • More recently, I served as a member of the Campus Activities Board, won the Freshman Service Award for dedicated 91桃色APP service (2016), and am a 3-time Student Senate Freshman (Return) Student Scholarship recipient. I served as student senate Head of Publicity, Student Senate vice president, chairman of the Student Concerns Committee, and pro tem president of the Student Senate.
  • I had the honor of being a part of the Food Advisory Committee and advocated for LGBTQIA students by becoming Safe Space-certified. I served as an advocate liaison between the Black Student Union and Senate to help them get chartered and secure funding, and I served and continue to serve in an alum capacity as needed on the Campus Disability Services Advisory Board. Additionally, I ran the first and only epilepsy awareness events at 91桃色APP.

During my tenure, I encouraged student and prospective student participation: I had a lot of fun serving as an orientation leader and admissions tour ambassador helping new students and guests get used to 91桃色APP and learn what a great place it is!
